Comments Thread For: Ricky Hatton: Matthew is Bringing The Belt To England

Ricky Hatton was very worried when his younger brother, Matthew Hatton (41-4-2, 16 KOs) signed a contract to fight unbeaten Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (35-0-1, 26 KOs). The fight happens later tonight at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. Matthew has tasted waters above the welterweight division in the past. Alvarez has a decent punch and he's more built for 154-pounds. The boxers agreed to meet in the middle, at a catch-weight of 150-pounds.

If he does it will be funny.

Alvarez is 35-0-1 but what is his best win?

Not taken notice of the guy despite the hype.

N'Dou someone drew with. Alvarez won an easy UD

Baldomir fair enough but he was long gone.

Hatton ranked 14th best at this weight too. What a joke.

Paul Williams should just take the belt off the winner.

Woah... I agree that Paler Jr is unlikely to win, but isn't that unnecessary?

When this fight was announced, I pretty much didn't care who won, it just sounded like a set-up fight to me. But now, I really want Hatton to make a good account of himself and bring the fight. Canelo is not really fast and he does seem to have heavy hands but we have yet to see how he handles a pressure fighter. If this was Ricky (in his prime) instead of Matthew, I think Ricky would have half a chance, even at 150 lbs. It would be awesome if Matthew hammered him! I can dream, right?

Alvarez is a 20 year old white mexican and surely no Mike Tyson. not sure why the mex even got a rep. Hope hatton wins and sets the overrated mex down for a while. Rickie is still a drunk.
