When Judah lost to Baldomir he kept his strap anyway??

This is clearly a hole in my boxing history. I don't really remember this or understand how it could unfold. I was readind Fat Dan's chat and he said Judah lost to Baldomir yet kept his belt and had it on the line against Mayweather? What exactly does that mean, what were the particulars on how that played out? I'm sure that caused quite a stir on NSB at the time.

    For reference:

    Fat Dan Rafael (1:55 PM)

"The IBF just let him keep it. It was absurd. Which is why that title Mayweather won at welter is as bogus as any tile in boxing history. Judah lost cleanly to Baldy in a title fight and was allowed to keep the belt. Then he faced Mayweather and lost the title. The whole thing disgusted me and many others."

Baldomir only paid the sanctioning fees for one title (I think it was WBC). Floyd legitimized the IBF title by beating Baldomir though, since the title rightfully belonged to him.

I suppose everything Judah and Baldomir was leaving with Mayweather regardless. In which case Baldomir made the right decision not forking over 10k.

If I'm remembering correctly, he kept the belt because Baldomir wouldn't pay the sanctioning fee for the bout. The fight was also for the vacant IBO championship.

It was very ******, considering that Mayweather had only fight fight at 147 prior to the Judah fight and that was against a career-long Jr. Welterweight that was on the downside of his career in Sharma Mitchell.

Judah? Coming off a loss. Sure, two championships on the line. Brilliant.

Nonetheless, Mayweather handled both Judah and Baldomir without much trouble, so he was the real champion at the weight. All was correct in the end, in that sense.

Zab vs Baldimor was staged so Baldimor couldn't keep the belt.

Baldomir could not afford to sanction both belts, so he payed to sanction the higher-regarded WBC in favour of the IBF belt. Then Floyd and Zab fought for the IBF belt, and according to boxrec (but i dont recall this) they also fought for a vacant IBO belt.

Fast forward to 1:05 and it is mentioned there.
