WBC fouled out stripping Martinez for Chavez Jr's punk ass. Atleast Sergio has it set up to the point where he has to get a shot at the title or the other guy gets stripped and the title goes to him anyway.

He is actually still a title holder, it's just that he has the Diamond WBC belt. Kind of like with WBA, they have the regular and super champ.Comment

The only way I see Cotto landing a rematch with Pac is if he can pull off an incredible series of wins over Mayorga, Margarito and Martinez consecutively. Version 2.0 of junito should clean house on his comeback trail with the exception of Martinez. That one would be one for the ages.Comment

Martinez should have stayed at 154lbs. there's way more competition there. He'd probably scare the winner of the Alverez vs. Hatton back down to 147lbs.Comment

He shouldn't have accepted the status when they stripped him, belt to hold up his pants or not he is the legitimate MW champion no one other than him can claim the mantle of champion at 160 other than him.Comment

Sergio has the "ring" belt, that's it.
He was strpped of the WBO and WBC (160, 154) titles. Pirog has his WBO belt and Chavez/Zbik are fighting for his WBC belt. Explain to me how this makes any sense at all?
As I said though, he is the RING champion so what's what matters at this point. The WBC "Diamond" belt is VACANT.. thats what him and Sergiy are fighting for - he hasn't been rewarded it yet.Comment

160 lbs is a wasteland except for maybe Sturm who's too afraid to lose. Sergio should choose to go 154 or 168. 154 makes more sense, Cotto, Marg, Mayorga, Mosley, Cintron, Vanes, Lara, Alvarez, Pirog! The 168 tournament produced more bums than stars IMO. Ward, Bute and Froch are the top and they don't make financial sense. Not to mention jumping 2 weight divisions from Sergio's natural weight class.Comment
