No kidding. And with a last minute weight change to boot. I think Canelo has talent, but this is a nothing fight. Nothing.

I dont really see how fighting Matthew Hatton is showing a "statement".

Canelo even said its gonna be a easy fight.

        He's making a statement alright.

That any Mexican boxer can get a WBC belt hand delivered to them for beating a bum.

I'm Mexican myself by the way, gotta call a spade a spade.

I agree with you about the WBC belt. DEF should not be for this belt. It's ******.
By statement I mean Canelo is going to show how he's vastly improving in between fights. He's going to show why people though he'd be the next big thing in the first place. I personally STILL believe the NEXT big thing is Jose Benavidez Jr. but when I saw Canelo's training video I was a bit shocked at how much he's improved especially in the speed category...

He made more of a statement surviving Cotto. But other than that he ahasn't done shat. Also anyone could have 50 fights at 20, just fight drunk bums that call themselves professionall fighters. His record should not even count. They should've started giving him a record here in the states. It's like the brits, they fight their local deli owners build up a record then come to the USA and get taxed. He's overated and apparently delafishnets finds him cute to the point he is calling him the next big thing.

Who is Mathew Hatton? Knocking him out is more like him doing what he's supposed to do than him making a statement. Even if it's in the first round.

A win over Mat Hatton isn't much of a statement. But I like how, Canelo is slowly stepping up his competition and progressing. I'm not convinced that Canelo is the next big thing but he is being handled the right way.
