It is not uncommon for a boxer to work up his/her opponent emotionally before their scheduled fight with insults and disrespectful comments or gestures. Muhammad Ali was a master at using such tactics, because they work. Emotional distress diminishes a person's confidence and performance. By the way, boxing is 80% psychological and 20% physical.

Due to the PKO, Manny Pacquiao pulled out of the fight and filed a defamation lawsuit against Floyd Mayweather for insulting and disrespecting him and his country over the use of performance enhance drugs.
