Oliver also did an exhibition with him a few months ago at a Hartford Colonials semi-pro football game...

It's amazing what boxing can do for people, the story you showed is amazing and I have a kid in my life that has really inspired me.

I train nothing but amateurs and they are mostly kids from the inner city here in Miami and Ft. Lauderdale.

There's this kid, I won't say his name but he started out not knowing anything about boxing and walked into the gym one day. He's a young Haitian kid and had no mother and a father that was basically absent in his life. The neighborhood he's from is known for having the most murder investigations in the county.

I have been training him for a little over a year now, he's 7-0 in his amateur career and is the best 118lb kid in Florida now. He plans to go pro in another year.

The crazy thing is, I do feel a lot of pressure with him because he looks at me like a father figure. He calls me every night, I have bought him all his equipment and made sure he doesn't pay a dime at the gym.

He comes over now to watch the fights at my house, my wife cooks and he's become part of the family.

He's 17 and graduating this year. He's a good kid but comes from a ***ed up family life.

That was a great story. It's amazing what the mind will allow the body to do when it is steeled and focused on a good goal.

Good on you, man. My brother works with juvenile delinquents in a detention center and deals with kids from a screwed up background every day. Many with no dads or moms or any family to hug on their birthdays or Christmas.

Some kids just need a good mentor to guide them. The streets will only guide them for so long, then they're headed for trouble.
