He's fought his last 2 fights like an amateur.Like he was just trying to touch his opponent & score points. He's a pro,u don't wanna just make contact anymore,U want to put some power in ur shots. He's confused. If he really is fighting Matthysse,he's gonna get beaten up.

Devon Alexander doesn't fight. He hops around and throws a jab that wouldn't hurt a girl. That's Devon's fight game.

          Devon Alexander is 24.
Since Amir Khan is 24 too, no I wouldn't say that we are being harsh on Devon Alexander.

Devon isn't good enough defensively to win fights without being effective offensively. What happened to the Alexander who KO Urango? If Devon is going to beat fighters like Mathyse, Bradley, Maidana, etc. he needs to display more of a "go getter" mentality. Thoughts?
            devon couldn't figure timmah out.

devon should've went to the body more.

He doesn't really have that much talent to be honest.

He's a limited fighter that showed a lack of heart in his last fight.

I don't see him going far.

I think his main problem is that he has two modes.

                Offense and Defense.

When he does one he neglects the other.

The other is a ameutur mindset of outscoring his opponents by throwing arm punches.

                He can improve on this.

He needs to stay active and fight decent level guys for 4 or 5 fights(Matthysse, Judah, Peterson).

Than step up again and fight a elite(Bradley, Khan, Berto)

Experiance and a active schedule can fix a lot of his issues.

                  *Aggression

Him and his camp thought he was better than what he is...he was not ready for Tim Bradley but they put him in, took a risk...backfired! They should have taken the kotelnik performance as a warning, but they had the blinders on and just called it a bad night, dumb simple minded mentality. I truly believe this kid would have won the fight if they had matched him for another year or so, whilst he ironed out the creases.

Even Timmy said the fight happened too early, but oh well I guess they got a good pay day, but they may have ruined the kid. Obviously he will still be a world champ in the future, but I think he may have lost his superstar mentality, and the belief that he could become one, and he has lost that gloss in the public which can take a long time to regain.

Very good technical analysis and this is why I believe he took the fight too early. They thought he was better than what he is, but he still has a lot to learn and now it is a much longer road back. It is kind of karma though, because him and his trainer had a lot of things to say about amir khan and his amateurish style, but devon has many of the same problems.
