    Doesn't make sense to me.
A good lengthy consistent body of work will do for me in the absence of great opponents, and I would say means alot more and is a testament to a fighters true standing. Is Hasim Rahman great because he beat Lewis or is he even better than Wlad because of that one win over a great fighter?

So Joe Calzaghe and Sven Ottke should be considered greats then?

I would say opinion is divided.

You could argue Calzaghe beat two greats in RJJ and Bhop. Even three if you include Eubank. So I would say he has a stronger claim than Wlad.

I just don't understand how you get on a great list without actually beating another great. Is it enough to have a long unbeaten run against mediocre opponents?

What makes the opponents mediocre? because they are losing to him?

there are no 'great' heavyweights in this division. its unfair to say he can never become great without beating a great when none exist.

If Ali or Louis or someone was stuck in this division destroying everyone, they would still deserve to be ATGs even though they had no good opponents.

You are right, it is a bit unfair if there are no greats out there to beat.
