Comments Thread For: Saul Alvarez on The Marquez Beef, Matthew Hatton Bout

Saul "Canelo" Alvarez is ready to to face the most important challenge of his career, a bout for the vacant WBC 154-pound title against Matthew Hatton (44-4-2, 16KOs) on March 5 at the Honda Center in Anaheim. Alvarez (35-0, 26KOs) is planning to allow Hatton to come forward, while he plays the role of the counter-puncher.

Won't happen. Alvarez is too big for Marquez but I feel him about what he said but Marquez does have a point. I think no one would care if Alvarez fought for the title if a legit contender was on the other end as well.

true true. noone minded alvarez v hatton as a non title fight but hatton has no credentials at 154
wbc should have done right thing and said that if alvarez wants fight for belt he has to switch opponents. hatton should be fighting senchenko who is hiding in eastern europe with a paper title
alvarez vs rhodes would be the right right at 154
and ur right, alvarez is too big for marquez....pound 4 pound - marquez makes a mess of alvarez.

If Alvarez fights some guys defending this title I'm alright with it. If he takes the Andre Berto way, it's appalling. I don't think Saul is built that way, he wants to earn his place. Him and Angulo would be an easy sell and may be the best way for Sulliman to save a little face.

Marquez has a point, Alvarez has done nothing as of yet to warrant a World title and calling out a lightweight (with vastly superior boxing skills) for making that point, still reeks of cowardice.

"Sillyman" isn't looking to save face - he thinks the fans are ******. He also understands the Mexican public's infactuation for Alvarez, and wants nothing more than to bestow upon him that Green belt so they can make a ton of money defending against sub-par competition, just like he's done with Berto the last couple of years. Like you said, Angulo doesn't have an opponent, Lara doesn't have an opponent, Vanes Martirosyan is fighting a nobody...That's three SWW's right there that would KILL Alvarez, yet he gets a soft touch for the title. And just who is it that Alvarez has beaten to warrant this? Pathetic WBC.
