The Ring P4P ranking is a joke!

How Donaire advanced to #3 is a joke. I like Donaire but he
only has 2 big wins, Darchinyan and Montiel, years apart at
that. Martinez, Marquez and Bradley should be ahead of him
    on the P4P list, easily.

Actually, Nonito Donaire has 4 world-rated wins. Vic Darchinyan, Moruti Mthalane, Volodymyr Sydorenko, and Fernando Montiel. Nonito Donaire's ranking is deserved.

It's not a joke. It is close between Martinez and Donaire. Martinez and Donaire>JMM atm. Bradley isn't even in the discussion.

                  p4p is subjective anyway

P4P rankings are essentially based on (educated) fantasy matchups,
the fantasy part made clearest by the term "P4P": as if all fighters
could be scaled up or down to permit a same-weight tounament.

In that sense, a fighter's record and resume can influence his ranking,
but do not determine it. His most recent fight is far more important
                    than long-past victories or losses.

For example: Pacquiao may have an impressive resume and record,
but if AT THIS MOMENT he is considered past-prime (because of his
most recent fight) then he slips in the P4P rankings.

Mayweather Jr. has been inactive for some time now, and that too
will affect his P4P stature, because it suggests ring rust, which in
turn means that AT THIS MOMENT, he's not where he needs to be
in order to beat everyone else on the P4P list (if everyone were to
magically be scaled up/down to a common weightclass).

Matinez was impressive in his last fight, (Marquez, not so much,) but
it can be argued that Donaire was no less impressive himself, and his
leap to #3 is quite arguable... the same way that P4P rankings are
subjective, arguable, and impossible to prove unless the fighters who
are ranked happen to share a weightclass, and agree to fight.
