Tyson made a big mistake after kicking Bruce Seldon's arse. he fought Holyfield 6 or 7 weeks later, and got destroyed.....if I were in Joe's camp, I would advise him to hold out and try to fight Lacy in Dec. or Jan.
Why can't he start training right now?

IMO that's barely enough time to prepare. Many fighters have made the mistake of taking bouts without enough time to train.
"legitimate excuse" wow you sure defined the term "oxymoron", those are 2 words that definitely DON'T go together

training camps are normally about 8-10 weeks, that would leave ample time for the December Showtime date, but you're right that november may be too early I'll give u that

            1st 2 rounds to joe.

ashira cut badly on left eye. quite a bit of blood now.

            3rd round to joe.

            doc looking at eye.

4th round now. ashira's 5'7 not helping him.
joe takes round 4 as well.

            round 5. pace slowing down.
            joe takes 5.

round 6 starting. ashira eating lots of jabs, some good body shots too.
            joe takes 6.

7 starting. slower pace, more jabs, ashira gonna have to deck joe to win this.
            joe takes 7.

8 starting. heh announcers saying joe has hurt his left, leading with right almost exclusively now.
            garbage round. joe takes 8.

nothing close to a knock down, joe has taken all 8.

more garbage. some boos. joe still right jabbing his way to another boring win.

                    start of 10. yawn.
