    Donaire - Filipino? OR American?

It's refreshing to see an articulate, positive, and humble champion of boxing. He is obviously very proud of his rich Filipino heritage, but should he acknowledge the country that he grew up in for most of his life - the United States of America. I mean he always has the Filipino flag behind him, but then speaks almost perfect English with distinct American slangs, so shouldn't he at least have an American flag with him as well?

hes both, because he has dual citizenship in America and the Phillipines. citizenship is all that matters in nationality.

he will probably rep the Filipino flag more because its more of a selling point.

He's both. I don't think people are aware that the Philippine communities are large in many areas, like the Bay area where he's from. It would be difficult for him to lose touch with his heritage. It's not just a selling point. He's the typical Fil-Am who ate burgers during high school and rice and adobo for dinner.

        I think he actually British.

He speaks "English", the Philippines were once part of the British Empire and how else do you explain those ears?

He comes from a culture where basketball and boxing are top 3 sports.

That means he is puerto rican.

his parents are full blooded Filipino. Nonito is a full blooded Pinoy. He was born in the Philippines and he difinitely Filipino who has American Passport. That makes him a Filipino American. There is nothing in his blood or feature that makes him American. I would say 99% Filipino with 1% American because of his U.S. citizenship.

                youre talking race, not nationality.

Donaire has been in America since he was 11, and has dual citizenship in the USA and the Phillipines.
                hes both.
