Just watched the Montiel and ref situation again

and that ref is a moron. I thought it was horrible watching it live on HBO saturday night but it's even more horrible watching it today. How the hell are you going to grab an unresponsive fighter gloves and tap it for him. The ref literally forced Montiel to tap his glove for him when he knew nothing about it.

The ref wasn't tapping his gloves, he was cleaning his gloves on his shirt, just as refs always do when a fighter is knocked down.

But, I agree that the ref should have stopped it then, Montiel was in no condition to defend himself.

You're still on this shit? I don't know what you mean by tapping, but the referee has to grab the fighters gloves and wipe them off after a knockdown whether they are handed to him or not. For example, Cortez reached out and grabbed for the gloves from Marquez's hips after all three knockdowns in the first fight with Pacquiao.

Stop trying to make something out of nothing.

I disagree. Im with Roy Jones and I love guys like Steve Smoger. You always got to give a champ that respect. What does it hurt? I could see if he let it continue and then let Donaire beat him to death but instead he just gave him one chance and Nonito landed the next punch and the ref stopped it. Its no big deal

That ref was out of his mind to let that go on. Montiel was unconscious on his feet.

Tapping and cleaning is the same ****. What I'm trying to say is the ref literally forced Montiel to do it, Montiel knew nothing about it.

Please stop it with the give the champ the respect. Did you see Montiel? Motile was stuck in Mars with the rover Spirt. He litterally forced Montiel to continued by tapping and cleaning his gloves without his consent.

You seem to not understand what goes on in this situation. You don't need the boxers consent to wipe the gloves. It's part of the ref's job to grab and wipe the gloves to remove anything that might get in the fighter's eyes. The fighter has nothing to do with this.

This part is bullshit. He was responsive. For all we know he spoke to the referee as well.

He got up before the count, he's the champion, nuff said.

It was the ref's call- he could've stopped it, and that would have been o.k. He didn't, but it was still an o.k call.

Besides he didn't see montiel convulsing.

What part of the ref asking Montiel,'are you OK', don't you understand. You ask the fighter if he's OK and if he is or show sign that he is than you grab his glove and clean it for him. All Montiel was at the moment was an unconscious fighter standing up.
