Comments Thread For: Fernando Montiel: I've Never Been That Hurt Before

Former champion Fernando Montiel is very disappointed with last Saturday's knockout loss to Nonito Donaire. Montiel lost his WBO/WBC bantamweight titles after a left hook put him down hard in the second round of their fight at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Montiel was badly hurt and unable to recover. Montiel said that he was never hurt like that in his entire career.

      Anyone can get caught, but...

Given the timing of that counter, and how it was delivered, I don't think he could have escaped a KO/TKO. Props to the rooster for getting up, though.

Had the fight gone longer, I'm sure he would have gotten into rhythm and given a more competitive fight.

Montiel will bounce back, he's a warrior. I'm gutted that he got knocked out like that, not only that but Nonito was abusing him in the first round. Donaire is just a monster.

u did see the fight didnt u? montiel was indeed gettin in his rhythm tagging donaire with his jabs trying to set up a left hook of his own

had the fight gone longer he would have given donaire problems without a doubt

props to donaire for the victory though
