what does it matter how long you live in a place?
depends on how you grow up and how you are raised.
there's some damn immigrants living in the u.s. for 30 years and still don't know how to fucking speak english.

Americans didnt exactly embraced him as one of their own when he was starting out. He didnt have any fanbase at all.. He just came out of nowhere when he fought Darchinyan. And even after that, it was the Filipino and Fil-American fans that followed him and his career more closely than the American fans. There was a reason he cameback and stayed longer in the Philippines than the US after the Darchinyan fight. He wanted to build his fanbase in the Philippines, because he wasnt getting much following in the US.
The guy holds 2 passports, thus making him a citizen of both countries except that Nonito prefers to be identified more as a Filipino fighter more than an American, hence the title of "Filipino Flash"..

Nonito is probably just like that.
when you grow up in a household like that you have both.
at home and with relatives the culture will be more from your paren'ts country but at school and with your friends it'll be more american.

doubt many were even televised there.
now he's had more press , now his fights have been televised there , now he's had fights in philippines post-darchinyan.
he has grown his fanbase in philippines.
ts doesn't know what he's talking about.
he just thinks "oh i read mexicans don't like mexican-american fighters so maybe it's the same way with filipinos and filipino-american fighters."
that'd be my guess to where he came up with his conclusions.
ts is just butthurt about all this little forum wars...he has to protect his ***** pride.

he came to america as a teenager. it's not like he came here when he was a baby.
the guy speaks TWO filipino languages fluently. you know you can be raised in a different culture than where you live right?
don't get **** twisted just because the guy listens to hip hop.
Just because he came here when he was young doesn't mean that all he knows is American culture. His parents still raised him and more than likely instilled some Filipino culture in him. Despite him rebelling against them.
Haters can start talking when you see Donaire not being able to eat with just his hands(no utensils) or hear him say that he hates adobo or kare-kare.

the ******est thing is how american fans are now jumping on his bandwagon but , like the moron ts , is making claims about how filipinos are gonna jump on his bandwagon.Last edited by Left Hook Tua; 02-20-2011, 11:11 PM.

In my eyes he's an American but I don't blame the Filipinos for trying to claim him because half of us would probably do the same. I'm just saying though.
