Uh, they can "just grab" the gloves because they have to. Boxers aren't obligated to hand their gloves to the referee for wiping. The only thing the boxer needs to do is show some sign of awareness in order to fight on. If they can do that, the referee is supposed to wipe their gloves before continuing the fight.
