Montiel KO: The end of Montiel as we know him?

Was that the kind of KO that will forever change Montiel? Can anyone take a shot like that to the dome and ever be the same? Montiel showed incredible courage but I think his amazing fighter's instincts is the sole reason he was able to get up and square up after such a brutal blow.

Is that the type of punch that turns a Champ into a shot fighter? And I dont mean in the fight fan's psyche or opinion...I mean physiologically does that change Montiel's coordinated ability to absorb future punches?

(Think Vargas v. Tito, Taylor v. Chavez Sr., Ali v. Frazier, Castillo v. Corrales, etc etc.)

    It's a difficult to re-watch that KO.

I think he can still bounce back. Donaire is just a beast. Montiel still beats any of the guys in the Showtime tournament.

Montiel's never been KOd before...And to go like he did tonight, its got to take a lot of sting from his game....

All that damage is caused by repeated, sustained blows. One vicious shot like that, while not good for you by any means, probably isn't going to have the same lasting effect. It shouldn't affect his chin too much. Mentally on the other hand...how do you recover from that?

Who can beat him then and why? None of those guys have Donaire's power and Montiel is faster than any of them. King Kong is the only one that can beat him.

Maybe. It was a very brutal KO.

                Time will tell I guess.

He will be back. I'm surprise he still made 118 pounds. I don't think he belongs to that weigh class anymore.

Agbeko,Mares and Perez COULD all beat him. I would like to see Montiel fight the loser of Mares Agbeko fight or Perez but i doubt he will be matched that tough after this loss.
