Montiel is the champ, you have got to give him the benefit of the doubt because it's his titles that are on the line.

He took the next two punches well but the ref did the right thing a stop it anyway.

I think both refs did quality jobs tonight.

The ref did a fine job. Monteil got up right at 9 even though he should've stayed down. His legs and arms twitching means he got brain damage. Montiel got exposed at a overrated fighter.

I agree that ref was terrible. Montiel was having a seizure on the ground, first off, you wave it off, you don't give the full ten count.

second, a lot you are idiots, yeah montiel finished on his feet that was all instinct his brain was clearly shorting out.

terrible ref. put his life in great danger. there was literally no point in allowing him to get punched again by donaire. "ok donaire, here you go...free shots!"

I agree with everyone saying the ref did a good job. I was surprised he let it go on, but you do have to give the champ respect. Not many fighters would have gotten up from that shot. Montiel is one tough SOB and Donaire is on a whole nother level.

Montiel jumped up and beat the count and was also given the benefit of the doubt as he was champ. The ref stopped it as soon as he saw he wasnt defending himself.

I don't know about fired, but I was definitely surprised as most referees would have stopped it the moment Montiel was flailing his arms and legs on the canvas like that.

Or after he had to literally lift Montiel's hands up for him.

Then again most fighters would have stayed down. To Montiel's credit, he did get up somehow. lol

                Dude has so much heart.

The ref did stop the fight the moment he saw Montiel take punches. They weren't very solid shots, but Montiel couldn't defend himself.

Montiel didn't respond to him. The ref had to pull his gloves. For that reason, the fight should have been stopped. I like champions being given the chance but this was not one of those times. He was just completely finished.

I really don't know how he got up. His brain was short circuiting, but he had so much will power to get up. That is a champion.

The ref did a bad job. How are you going to grab a fighter who is unresponsive gloves and touch and clean them like the fighter was doing it LOL. The ref was like,'are you OK, if you are than touch and clean your glove to show me that you're ok'. Montiel was unresponsive and the ref decided to do it for him LMAO.

The ref probabaly go some big money bet on Montiel.

I thought it was an early stoppage. I know montiel was hurt bad and his reaction time was very slow, but you gotta give any mexican the chance to fight back. if montiel was out on his feet or knocked down again, I'd have stopped the fight tho.
