Nonito Donaire Gets $350,000, Fernando Montiel, $250,000

LAS VEGAS -- Former WBA interim super flyweight (115 pounds) titlist, Nonito Donaire, will make $100,000 more than his rival, WBO and WBC king, Fernando Montiel, for Saturday night's HBO televised bantamweight (118 pounds) clash at the Mandalay Bay Hotel.

The 28-year-old Donaire (25-1, 17 knockouts) is penciled in for a $350,000 pay day compared to $250,000 for the 31-year-old Montiel (44-2-2, 34 KOs), according to numbers obtained by FanHouse from Nevada State Athletic Commission chairman, Keith Kizer.

On the Montiel-Donaire under card, which is being promoted by Top Rank Promotions, unbeaten 27-year-old Philadelphia welterweight (147 pounds) contender, Mike Jones (23-0, 18 KOs) has a rematch with 28-year-old Jesus Soto-Karass (24-5-3, 16 KOs), over whom Jones won a disputed, unanimous decision in November at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium.

Jones and Soto-Karass will earn $75,000 each.

In another welterweight match up, 30-year-old Mike Alvarado (28-0, 20 KOs) of Colorado is scheduled to make $20,000 in pursuit of his third straight victory when he takes on 27-year-old Dean Harrison (16-4, five KOs) of England, who will make $8,000.

In yet another welterweight bout, 24-year-old southpaw Mark Jason Melligan (20-2, 14 KOs) of the Philippines will pursue his fifth straight victory and his third knockout during that stretch against 23-year-old Gabriel Martinez (27-1-1, 14 KOs) of Mexico, who is riding an 10-bout winning streak that includes five knockouts.

Melligan will earn $10,000 compared to Martinez's $6,000.

Dan Rafael says Montiel will make more than 250k with his cut from Mexican television.

I would gladly go through months of training for 10000 bucks.
