Brinkley was a mandatory that won an eliminator. Kessler and dirrel will take mandatories. Magee is a showcase in Romania I think.
Regardless, he has no one to fight for his first fight this yr. See who he fights next and if it's another fringe contender for no reason, I'll pile on bute with you. Bute's at a lot of big fights and seems like he wants to prove himself. He took the rematch with andrade, moved his training camp to Florida to spar with glen johnson and others where he learned he needed to get in better shape for his fights. I think that shows he wants to be the best in his division, or at least that he's trying to get better.

I expect him to find reasons not to fight Dirrell, Kessler, Pascal, Dawson, Hopkins, Froch, Ward etc.

The same people saying 'don't worry, he'll fight someone good soon' were saying the same thing 2 years ago.

Brinkley was supposed to fight Bika in another eliminator, but Bika's dad died and he fought Mendy instead, so Brinkley was pushed forward as the mandatory without having to fight a final eliminator. Kessler and Dirrell don't have belts, I don't know what kind of mandatories you see them taking. Maybe you meant tune ups, in which case you're probably right, at least in Kessler's case. Bute-Magee is in Canada, his 8th defense of his belt(all have been in Quebec), his 9th defense will come next against Mendy before his big grand finale of his Showtime contract where he'll face Andrade for a third time.

yEs I meant tune ups. Let's see what happens.

Clegg, who was available for him to fight over the last 18 months at smw that he should have fought?

It's obvious his resume is pretty thin for a guy ranked as highly as he is by some people, but having so many good fighters in his division tied up in this long ass tourney creates a special circumstance. Not he has a few real smw threats to fight. If he doesn't fight dirrel or kessler by the end of this year (ilumless they don't want to fight him) then I think he deserves to get shi t on.

Before the Super Six, it was posted on here that Taylor tried to fight Bute but Bute wasn't interested. Then Froch claimed that he tried to fight Bute after the Taylor but that Bute simply did not want the fight. There were discussions with A. Green which came to nothing. There were rumours of a Pavlik fight which lead nowhere. Pascal apparently tried to fight him but Bute wasn't willing to go to 175, but then tried to arrange a fight with Danny Green at 175+.

Of course, there are two sides to every story and it wouldn't surprise me if at least half of the above was a case of the other person giving a biased version of events, groundless internet rumours or something similar. But Froch and Pascal have fought tough opposition several times and fought abroad and as the underdog on more than one occassion, so when they say Bute wouldn't fight them I think that's worth something.

The Super Six has occupied most of the top guys but if Bute really wanted to build a resume or take a challengening fight he could've gone after one of the 175lb champs.

Clegg, good thng is that we will know soon. For sure. And I agree, it's about time.

Green, we can dismiss immediately, also, Taylor would get murked by bite just like green. A bad chin and gassing late isn't the way to beat bute (he also lacks power at 168 and probably can't muscle bute around.

Bute's running out of time for any excuses to be legit, that's for sure

I don't think you can hod it against a fighter who decides not to go up in weight unless he's cleaned out his weight class.

I'd also bet my wife that bute didn't duck pavlik. That's easy work for bute.

in hindsight, it's not that great a win, but he won impressively
