Well his fight before De la Hoya was on PPV vs. David Diaz. He couldn't have been THAT unknown.

I know David Diaz personally and the only people who knew about that fight was the boxing world and everyone in the Philippines. When Pacquiao fights now the world knows.

In boxing, I knew he had what it took to be a huge star in the sport and in own his native country ala Chavez and Trinidad. But Pac having worldwide appeal like he does now? I never saw the day.

I never pictured him winning a congressional seat, making the front cover of Time magazine or singing Imagine with Will Ferrell on the Jimmy Kimmel show.
