Should we have 15rounds back? What do you think?

    Here's my take:

At the very least for championship fights. It would lessen the possibility of draws, also the possibility of having to go to the scorecards considering that it extends the fights hence there might be a chance of the outcome being a KO/TKO. It also gives you a more dramatic fight as 13-15 rounds were tough with both fighters being more tired and limited at that point(not in all fights). A downside is the health of the fighters but IMO fighting 12rnds instead of 15rnds won't make much a a difference in the health of the fighter, just IMO since i've never been neither 12 nor 15 in the ring.

Here's an example of how an outcome can change in a 15 round fight:
    Wilfred Benitez- Ray Leonard
Fight went 15 rounds and ended in a TKO in the 15th very close to the last bell(6 seconds) in a very competitive fight where maybe, just maybe it could have been different and there could have been a second fight. Leonard was ahead anyways in the scorecards before anyone comments on that.

    Anyways, what are your thoughts?

i think championship fights that end in a draw should have an 'overtime' of 3 rounds...making it 15

imagine PAC-JMM 1 after the draw announcement? the crowd would know that 3 more rounds were coming...it would be electric

because the fear of watching John Ruiz or Corey Spinks for 15 rounds would kill the sport?

I'll put it like this- Can you imagine how bad it would've been if Margarito had to take 3 more rounds of punishment against Manny? Could've resulted in blindness or worse.

Like Larry hinted, there was a very real reason why the rule was changed.

yes, but that's not the question. Also gloves were different back then and the attention from doctors to fighters was less. Consider that back then fighters weren't as protected as much. Medicals, treatment, etc. Not one single fighter died because of ONE fight, not one single fighter ended with Alzheimer because of ONE fight, It was the accumulation of damage and the lack of treatment

                13 IMO

                less chance of a draw

                13 is perfect

I like the idea of overtime, for sure. To add to it, they could give both corners the option to accept/decline overtime and if one declines, the other is declared the winner. If both decline, it ends in draw. But it would add some serious atmosphere to the fight.

this fight was an exhibition. Doctors should have stopped it between 8-9 since there was no point to continue. Manny noticed it just as much as cotto and he kept looking at the referee wondering how much longer was he waiting to stop it
