Patrick Nielsen won a UD over Erik Avlastimov. It was 6x2 min. fight but still was the main event according to danish television. Patrick is a household name despite him only being 19 years old. The kid carries the hope of a nation as he is expected to be the new Mikkel Kessler. So he is under immense pressure whenever he steps into the ring but so far he has done what has been asked of him.

Kasper Bruun got a bit of redemption with a pretty UD over Alfredo Di Feto. Last time out Bruun won a deserved yet razorthin decision and the crowd booed lustily. Tonight Bruun had no trouble going 8 rounds and he got better as the fight progressed. It was a very proud Bruun who recieved the applause from the sold-out arena.

Former Contender star Ahmed Khaddour has decided to continue his career in Denmark under the Sauerland banner. Tonight he defeated Lee Noble, who was fresh of a loss from last week, in 6 rounds of shadowboxing against a VERY defensive englishman.

Khaddour posed a lot but did show some of the flashy moves that made him an extraordinary talent early in his career. In the final round Khaddour picked up the pace and came out guns blazing, but Noble kept his composure behind his high guard to weather the storm.

I don't think Patrick is a household name. Maybe we use the term differently. If you ask a random household or random people on the street they would not know him. I've never watched him fight and I don't believe that there is consensus that he will be another Kessler.

If you're a Dane and if you have never seen Patrick Nielsen fight, then that says more about you that about the average Danish fan. BattlingNelson is quite right, Nielsen is becoming a household name with the kind of media exposure that he is getting.

But I agree that the talk of a "new Kessler" is misguided hype. I guess it started already when Nielsen turned pro, having Kessler as a kind of a mentor. Patrick Nielsen is a fine talent, but they are rushing him. They should give him time.

                I agree.

The exposure Nielsen is getting includes programmes with competitions against sportsstars from other sports on primetime public service television (stjernetræf).
