Truthfully, a three fight deal is slightly risky, but it makes complete sense for HBO if it works out in some ways.
If he beats Jean Pascal, then a bout with Bute or Dawson makes legitimate sense. Then he can fight either and/or retire on the biggest stage possible.
If he doesn't beat Pascal, then he can still retire on the biggest stage. Either way, it keeps Dawson and Bute to an extent interested in the network.Comment

Haha i think he is stil mad at bhop for schooling tito. But hopefully the contract says that if he wins he faces dawson and if he looses he should face cloud.Comment

HBO needs to fire some people. A guy has a bad night, his career is over. A guy has a good night, he'll be around forever. A guy is young and undefeated, burn the budget we gotta hold this dude forever. The most short sighted business going. Seems to come from a very we're too big to fail mentality.Comment

I think HBO is banking on Hopkins getting a win vs. Pascal in the rematch. If he wins, then he gets a fight against Dawson. If he loses, who knows. The one problem with the Bute fight is Bute is exclusively signed to Showtime so that fight becomes difficult to make. Bute signed to Showtime to get the winner of the Super Six (most likely Andre Ward) and maybe a fight with Froch or AA as well...Comment

a 3 fight deal! WTF?
I don't think there's a fighter alive who has a 3 fight deal with HBO and they gave it to a elderly citizen?
How does GBP have the leverage to pull this off? Does anyone even care about a rematch with Pascal? The first fight was good but the 2nd won't be as good.
This is completely shocking, and even for HBO this is surprising. Bute is signed with showtime last I checked and Dawson since being on HBO has a complete bust. Since his first fight with Johnson his fights have been completely boring.
My guess is the deal is contingent on Hopkins winning. If it's not, my god....Comment
