Then you make new stars. Putting a bandage on the situation with old superstars and over paying others isn't going to fix the problem. Get a Shobox show(BAD is way above that, hardly shows prospects), start showing good prospects, and show more fights. As of late HBO has been showing maybe 1 top 2 fights a month, for nearly the past 2 years. They have the wrong formula if this is the way they want to carry their sport.

Honestly, it's like HBO is praying for a prospect to just pan out. Like Broner, good prospect that they hope will do big things against Ponce but that's not how you build a fighter. You build them through your network but as of late HBO won't touch you unless you're established. That's fine and all for superstars but you aren't going to build any following for new blood.

dude, hbo blew so much money on jermain taylor, so much that dibella split from hbo to groom taylor and advise him because taylor was supposed to be the next DLH, he was a huge investment that went well south.

for them to try and make another star, i agree with you, they're going to have to find one or let one emerge out of a talent rich pool, and to do that, guys have to fight one another.

hbo, match makers, and promoters need to try and stop building up these undefeated fighter to look like world beaters, when theyre not, and let guys fight tough fights and learn and either get better or get sorted out.......


hopkins at this point brings a amount of drama at this stage of his career, one he's more vulnerable, two people want to see him either fail and get knocked out or they want to root for him and see him win, being that he's the old man in the ring in a young mans sport.

hopkins popularity is at it's peak, and it is a big gamble on hbo's part. i see the benefits of giving hopkins a 3 fight deal, it's obvious that all the fights will depend on his performance. if hopkins was to get embarrassed or easily ko'd, then i'm willing to bet that would put the kibosh on any following fight, but if he were to have close fights, win, lose, or draw, as long as they're exciting, they will have him back.

i seriously don't see a exciting fight with hopkins dawson, more of a chess match, something hbo doesn't want really.

but as for the next star situation, hbo needs to put together more fights and demand better match ups, not cherry picked fights, they need it because their boxing credibility is withering away fast, like a sandcastle at the foot of the shore.

Pascal fought scared because Hops was getting to that body. I still think Pascal has all the advantages of making adjustments.

I still don't think Bhop will fight Dawson. I've heard this crap before, you're not fooling anyone Hopkins. I hope he beats Pascal again and then goes after Chad but I won't hold my breath.
