******! Hopkins-Pascal II to compete with Froch-Johnson fight on 5/21

I really hate when boxing does this to us:

By Dan Ambrose: With the WBC light heavyweight title fight between champion Jean Pascal going up against Bernard Hopkins on HBO on May 21st, this means that the fight will be coming directly with Showtime’s Super Six tournament semi-final bout between WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch and Glen Johnson, which just happens to be taking place on the same night but on a different cable company.

This isn’t a good thing for boxing or the fans of the sport, because it means they’re going to have to decide on one of two choices, unless they have Tivo. With the previous Hopkins-Pascal I fight doing really good ratings on Showtime, you would have to assume that the Hopkins vs. Pascal II rematch will pull in more eyeballs than the Froch vs. Johnson fight.

However I will see Hopkins/Pascal 2 because Hopkins is one of my favorite fighters and I don't have Showtime. I will watch the Froch fight the next day though.

It's good to compete but it's never good to have same broadcast on the same day. everyone loses. The fans and both networks usually will have lower ratings.

It's subjective, I thought it was fairly boring.

Second time round, expect Pascal to be even more cautious and Bernard to be a few months older.
