    LIAKHOVICH PLANNING APRIL 23RD BOUT

    By Benny "Big Dog" Henderson

Former WBO heavyweight title holder Siarhei Liakhovich (25-3 with 16 KOs) is raring and ready to get back in the heavyweight picture. With a new team behind the Belarus born boxer, which includes promoter Main Events, the thirty-four year old fighter believes he can reach his goal of becoming a two-time heavyweight champion. In this exclusive interview with **********, Liakhovich speaks on fatherhood, his fighting career and his future.

Benny Henderson Jr. : Congratulations on the birth of your son, as well as your new promotional agreement with Main Events.

Siarhei Liakhovich : I am the happiest Daddy in the world Benny, I know people say that all the time, but I am the happiest Dad. And I am very happy to sign with Main Events; they are very hard working people. I have a new guy, a well known and well respected Tony Cardinale [who handled John Ruiz's career]. He is my attorney and advisor. I am actually very happy.

BH: Do you know when you will be returning to the ring with your new promoter?

SL: Yes, our goal is to fight again for one of the belts. I want to become world champion again. But before that I am scheduled to fight April 23rd on the undercard of the Tomasz Adamek fight.

BH: Any idea on whom your opponent may be?

SL: We are working on that right now, to be honest I don’t have any names, but we will have a name soon. Remember Benny, I just signed yesterday.

BH: What was the deciding factor for you to sign with Main Events?

SL: Over the years, I saw what kind of job they did with their fighters, especially right now with the job they are doing for Tomasz Adamek and Zab Judah, so I think these are the right people to stay with right now. For me, these are the right people.

BH: What are your thoughts on the heavyweight division at this time?

SL: To be honest, nothing exciting, it is very sad to see all these guys fighting with each other for like a second time. I think it is hurting boxing with no new faces, no nothing. What I see is nothing exciting, no exciting fights.

BH: Where do you see yourself ranking amongst the heavyweight division?

SL: Definitely be in the top ten.

BH: Is there anybody in particular that you would like to climb in the ring with for your return?

SL: To be honest, I would like to fight anybody that would be a meaningful fight.

BH: Is there anything you would like to say in closing of this interview?

SL: I would like to say thank you to all my fans for supporting me for all these years, just come to New Jersey to see my fight.

Good move -- the White Wolf languished with Don King.

    Good luck, Sergei!
