Any businessman worth his salt knows to strike when the iron is hot. Arum has been around for decades in the business, he knows all the ins and outs and what works/doesn't. The 'Superfight' was a dud and a colossal failure from the promotions (or lack thereof) to the actual fight itself.
I think Arum's goal is for Lopez-Gamboa to break or at least challenge Pacquiao-Marquez's record PPV buys at featherweight and turn one or both of those guys into household names like Manny and Marquez... not to sell only 300 tickets and get 'eh' ratings on HBO after dark.Comment

The only problem is that these guys are veterans now, and haven't really stepped up. And in Gamboa's case, homeboy is getting long in the tooth now. His style does not lend itself well as he gets older. He's already 29...and you can tell by how his fights have been the last 2-3 times, the boy isn't motivated by these types anymore. He knows he has elite skills, but now he fights irregularly, whereas before Arum, he was fighting at a rapid pace. If anyone is going to lose soon, its Gamboa. He needs to fight top tier fighters to maintain his edge, because being spoon fed is actually hurting his career.Comment

Plus, the difference here with alexander-bradley is that gamboa-lopez actually has been building for a long ass time now. Bradley alexander really didn't build at all so it's different.
I don't know how much bigger he expects both these guys to get but I don't think either will reach super status until they fight eachother, imo.Comment

Don't worry Arum and Top Rank really know how to match their fighters correctly unlike GBP that has made a lot of mistakes and right now a lot of their young stars have lost.Comment
