hmmmm...so all this is a fight I would LOVE to happen..I just don't see it happening for MANY reasons. First of all Chris John does not make it a habit of fighting young, athletic, skilled fighters, or really anybody of any real danger (exclude Marquez which was quite some time ago). Secondly, John is a very skilled fighter and I would be very surprised if Arum was willing to risk spoiling the luster of Gamboa vs Lopez by putting Gamboa in with John (even though I think Gamboa would win). Third and probably the biggest reason is that there is no way John is fighting outside of Indonesia, I know he has NEVER fought in the states and I'm not sure if he has even fought anywhere besides his home country. Arum and Gamboa would be absolutely foolish to go all the way to Indonesia to fight a national hero where he has gotten favorable home town decision before (ie Marquez), and risk getting jobbed by the judges if he doesn't finish John.

Chris John has fought in the US twice vs. Rocky Juarez. First fight was a draw, horrible decision, and then he got the rightful UD the second time around.

Really? Damn my apologies I literally had no idea he had fought in the states. I'll check those fights with Juarez out for sure. Thanks for the info

A featherweight tournament would be wicked. Nothing wrong with John/Gamboa with winner facing winner of Juanma/Rafa 2. I know, not going to happen unless John wins. Bob and Bruce know they would be putting Juanma at great risk with Gamboa. Lopez takes too many shots and Gamboa can punch. And let's face it Lopez is the ticket seller.

This is all beginning to look clear. If everything goes according to plan, JuanMa and Yuri will meet in June 2012, on the eve of the Puerto Rican Day Parade. This has to be what Arum is shooting for. The clash will only be sweeter if Gamboa gets past John. Hate to wait this long, but it's something to look forward to. If they stall this fight any longer, I'll be disgusted.

John couldn't be more riper for the picking, I can't see anything other than a Gamboa win via stoppage, seriously.
I am watching it now and thinking WTF happened to John.....he looks slow as hell compared to when he fought JMM and Juarez.

A prime John would have easily beaten Gamboa, bad style match up for Gamboa. Right now John doesn't stand much of a chance and it's due to him fighting at 126. Clearly...he should have moved up a long time ago. I think it's too late for progress.
