It is not an easy task to build a guy like Wilder, who was raw as they come and the process was never going to look smooth or be quick.

He is still years away not to mention all the hard work
Don't get me wrong, I like Deontay Wilder. He's charismatic, seems to be a very hardworking kid and is well spoken. I want to see this guy challenge for a title someday but I don't think his team is doing him any favors by matching him up with the Dustin Nichols of the boxing world. Despite being relatively inexperienced and "raw" Wilder is light years better than this bum and as such, should be fighting a higher caliber of fighter.

With what Wilder has shown as a pro, he will not surpass Tye Fields's achievements.

I see your point but I don't think he is ready for a real challenge in the ring, he needs to focus on his training with the fights merely a goal for that training.

It is tough to gauge Wilder because he is so raw but has power so he can skate by on the power over a vast swath of fighters but that won't get him to the top, yet real fighters would beat the piss out of him because well they are real fighters. So it is tough to match him up and get an evenish or even slightly challenging fight without getting him stomped, to me anyways.

To me it is like damned if you do damned if you don't, eventually he has to step up but I don't see the need to rush him. I would like him to start seeing other prospects soon but I would imagine his power erase most of them at least the type of prospect he would see.

He's definitely a work-in-progress and we'll have to see what happens. Hopefully he can develop into a skilled fighter to put the U.S. back into the hw mix.
