yes there is. haven't you been watching

lol, when children of African ****** became fighters in the u.s. we boxed like we fought and danced in our African cultures.

in Africa those who where sold into slavery where the losers of wars between clans and countries. they fought with a kicking / acrobatic style that was developed for defense against sticks, blades and spears. this art was practiced and refined through dance and mock combat that blended one into the other.

those who got to the Americas continued to practice these arts (mostly in secret, disguising it as a dance) and the arts are now called capoeira, dambia muti, Haitian machete fencing ect....... there was even one in the u.s. called "knocking and kicking".

it was how we fought, how we danced and just simply how we moved.

when the children of former ****** started prize fighting we adapted these methods of movement for boxing. that is the reason we don't box like john l. Sullivan anymore.

in fact when the first few black fighters where allowed to fight white men in the ring, many news papers reported that the African-American fighters fought in a "cowardly style" based on avoiding blows.

    sound familiar?

when a.a. fighters fight we try to stay on our toes the whole fight, slip shots and return fire off those misses.

these things came to boxing because of us, and still no one does them better than us.
hey, you know what ray robinson and mayweather jr. style have in common?

    jack shit.

there is no such thing as style based on race.

Forgive me. I tried too hard to be the best pac fan, and it backfired at me. I'm back on earth now.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Direll yet. I'd rather watch Floyd over him any day him. Though Floyd seems to run a lot you still get the feeling that he's in control, even though he's super defensive. Guys like Direll or KJ (especially against Vit) run around but appear scared to exchange as well.

take race out of the equation bcuz being slick has no more to do with race than punching hard does. malignaggi, martinez, bute, JMM, chris john etc can all be slick and none of them are african american. meanwhile paul williams, tavoris cloud and k9 bundrage are as far away from slick as anyone in boxing.

regardless of race a slick boxer would have the best chance of beating pacquiao, styles make fights. styles, not race. i only seen one or two ppl say an african american would beat pacquiao, its u *******s who keep bringing up race to dismiss the argument that a slick fighter regardless of race would give pac troubles. its probably bcuz u dont have the boxing iq to talk about it seriously.

which is proven by the fact that u clearly dont know what it means to be slick to begin with. being slick is simply being hard to hit, u dont have to run to be hard to hit. toney is the slickest fighterof his generation, when have u ever seen james toney run from anyone? u havent, he stands right in front of them and they still cant hit him. thats what being slick is, being smart. someone who runs isnt slick at all, u probably dont know what it means to run either though.

This statement is just ******. That's why Manny's face is wrecked after every fight. He gets hit way too much, Manny's defense is horrible.

You are just a ******* with zero boxing knowledge. Your credibility is zero for making such a statement. 20 punch combination REALLY!!!!!!

I don't even know why I'm even responding your ******ity.

I haven't heard such ingorant statements as I have in this thread for all of the years that I have been on here. Slick is not a "black thing", slick is not a "white thing", it is simply a term used for guys who will hit you and then you can't hit them back. Some slick guys will "run" after landing their shots and some slick guys will land their shots, make you miss and then make you pay some more.

Before Rosario got to Camacho he was one slick fighter. But Rosario put a really good ass whooping on him, although they handed Camacho a gift decisiuon, and camacho would stand and fight never again. His slickness turned into nothing but running and avoiding confrontation.

The slickest guy I ever traded with was Anthony Jones. He'd come in firing, I'd defend and return shots and he would fire right back. He was one tough cat to hit. When I threw with James Toney he was slick but vulnerable on the inside if you know the spots to pick and fire.

The clown that stated "toe to toe" action is the only way to fight needs to get into a time machine and get out of 1896 and back into the present. Back then it was a brute sport where the strong bullied the weak around the ring. Today the weaker fighters survive with finese and skill working around a fighter to either weaken him for the ko or to get the nod when the cards are handed in. The best fighters will posses power and finese, it's a dangerous combination to encounter in the ring.

Pacquiao has power, that is obvious. But he has little finese in what he does. He will run in like the old timers throwing so many punches to keep his opponent busy and on the defensive. Floyd is slick, a step back here, a right hand counter here and then when he sees it he will unload when the time is right.

Paulie Malignaggi is a slick fighter. He posseses great speed and movement, but he could use some help in the department of moving his head. Watch him as he works around an opponent, moving so fluidly as he machine guns off his combos and then slips his opponents counters. If Paulie had power included in his arsenal he could very well be the baddest man on the planet, but he doesn't.

Awhile ago I stated that Paulie Malignaggi could very well be a man that would hand Pacquiao his first defeat. I am not saying that Paulie is the greatest fighter but rather that styles make fights. Paulies style would give Pacquiao fits as he rushes in trying to land punches on a man that is no longer there. Pacquiao would be left throwing the last 2 or 3 punches of his combinations at nothing but air.

Someone also stated that Pacquiaos defense is among the best in the world. I would love to smoke some of that guys green. The only defense that I have really seen Pacqiauo display is in his offense. It's been said that the best defense is a better offense. Paqcuiao has played that rule perfectly. But what happens when he faces a fighter whose defense is better than Pacquiaos offense. Floyd will make Pacquiao face this question head on. After Floyds defense neutralizes Pacquiaos offense Floyd will open up and end Pacquiaos reign. And oh yeah, Floyd is slick........Rockin'
