Exactly who is McCloskey? Most American boxing fans have never heard of him. You claim that Khan has already beaten 2 guys rated in the top five in the world, so why not continue to fight the best? Why take a step down when the top guy offered to come to your country and fight you? If he claims to be the best then he needs to fight the best, especially when the best is available and is offering to come to your country to fight you.

Khan fighting McCloskey now is like Bradley saying he's gonna fight Holt when Khan or Alexander is available. I can't see Bradley doing that. Your guy is not quite ready for prime time.

McCloskey is a far better fighter than Peterson.

He is a European champ. He has a ZERO at 31 and he has a decent KO ratio, pretty good for a southpaw from a little town in Derry who has only been a pro for 6 years.

He is ranked higher than Peterson in both WBA and WBC rankings. He deserves a title shot but Yanks think they run this game.

Well excuse me superstar. The champ offered you a title fight. He even went up to 300k for you but you turned it down.

Now he's gonna fight a guy who many people feel is a better fighter than you. Someone who appreciates a title shot.

        Idiot.

I believe after that fight with Maidana, Khan has earned a little bit softer touch in his next fight. Demanding a guy to fight a monster in every single fight is not really fair because hardly anyone ever does it. Bradley is willing to fight anyone right now but he is an exception to the rule. Let him fight this undefeated contender and then see who he fights next...

Na he wont. After McCloskey he'll beat down Bradley then move up to 147. Peterson should have taken the biggest payday of his career.

A really dumb move by Team Peterson. 300K was a good offer.

Understandable move by team Peterson. What's the point in fighting three guys back to back to back who would be favored over you? He should stay active and fight someone decent, but beatable like Paulie, or Julio Daiz. But most importantly, he should look to get a solid real win, not a symbolic one. Khan will be there for him later since he's with GBP now.

Exactly who is Lamont Peteron? Most UK boxing fans have never heard of him. This fight is in the UK after all so that is what matters the world does not revolve around the US, especially nowadays when the US has long lost the monopoly it once had in boxing. McCloskey is a much bigger name in the UK and the England vs Ireland promotion will def. draw more fans than Peterson

So basically McCloskey will generate greater hype, more revenue and is taking a considerably lower purse split. On top of that him and Peterson are ranked more or less the same according to WORLD rankings. Plus Paul is undefeated, holds a European title, a large local Irish fanbase, and is coming off 5 stoppage wins and not a bull**** draw like Peterson. In spite of all the above Khan still offered Lamont 300k, more money for less revenue compared to McCloskey. That offer was more than generous when you consider it was around 3-4x more than what Lamont made vs Ortiz and Bradley on US soil.

Team Khan would be giving Lamont a serious ******* if they paid him any more while McCloskey was available. It really seems as if Team Peterson did not want the fight for some odd reason. The rematch clause excuse seems like utter BS as confirmed by Schaefer. No Challenger spends that much time worried about a rematch when he hasn't even won the title yet and is getting BY FAR the biggest pay day of his career for the first fight.

Team Peterson didn't just out price themselves, they flat out said they didn't want to fight by rejecting 300k knowing that Khan had so many other options on the table
