Is not a terrible fight. Better than Witter. Is against a guy who is on the borderline top 10. But, is NOT an HBO worthy fight. So HBO should not pay their hefty licensing fee to show this fight. If HBO will pay they better treat Khan like they did Cotto and Martinez. But, I doubt they will since of the Golden boy connection...

McCloskey is in The Ring's top 10 at Jr Welterweight. He's as credible opponent as anyone who was available in April and far more credible than most. He's infinitely more credible than Prescott, who is not even in anyone's top 20.

And all active champions fight a variety of opposition. Many, such as Ali and Frazier, defended against some complete bums in between their tough fights (Richard Dunn, Terry Daniels, etc.). McCloskey is no bum, he's a bone fide top 10 fighter (as well as being European champion).

If Khan hadn't fought McCloskey now, McCloskey would have become his mandatory sooner or later.

They don't have to pay very much to show fights that are not taking place in the US, which this isn't. In any case, a huge number of Irish Americans will tune in to see it, because he's Irish and is the European champion.

At least this fight will draw close to a sell out for the all British clash. I bet Ortiz-Berto will struggle to sell 5k, maybe 8k in LA.

but if your active already fighting top guys in your division why not continue? and to fight this guy but you say prescott hasnt done anything to earn a shot is bogus. i mean he knocked you out already isnt that enough to warrant a rematch? you telling me you couldnt fight peterson or katsidis? lmaooo khan is a joke. guys liek that do that because they are afriad they might lose before they can get to a huge fight.
McCloskey is a far bigger threat at this point than Prescott. As you'd know if you followed boxing.

And Ali and Frazier and all the other ATGs took comparatively easy fights in between their tough ones while they were in their prime, so you're being ridiculous. McCloskey is a bone fide top 10 fighter. Richard Dunn wasn't in anyone's top 50 when Ali fought him.

It says "bout subject to change" so was provisional, not signed, and obviously now that he's signed to fight Khan, that fight will be cancelled.
