I think people are starting to overrate Khan after he beat Maidana. Maidana is good, but we got to remember that he barely beat Demarcus Corley FFS!!

If you're seriously judging Maidana on that fight, when he was clearly seriously under-trained and looked gassed from the very first round, you're being ridiculous. You're an intelligent poster, so why post things you must know are silly? If Khan had fought that version of Maidana, Maidana wouldn't have got past the first round knock-down. Maidana was in superb shape for the Khan fight and was a completely different fighter.

What about fighting Lucas Matthyse?

He's not a top 10 fighter or even close. McCloskey is.

Who is better remains to be seen, they're both unproven prospects. McCloskey has more skills, but Matthysse has a bigger punch. Many unproven prospects fail when they step up to world class, while others do well. It's usually impossible to predict in advance.

The fact remains that McCloskey is currently a top 10 fighter according to The Ring and boxrec, which are the two most respected rankings; and Matthysse is not. That's just a fact, not opinion. And to criticise Khan for taking a fight with a top 10 fighter is just ridiculous, especially as McCloskey has a big Irish fanbase in the UK.

its just an opponent for khan to look good agiasnt and up his populairty/profile in the UK,and look good before fighting bradley.

I would have prefered him to get peterson to compare himself to bradleys performance,or fight katsidis or best yet prescott for a ibigger better more tougher fight.

he would do well to sack his uncle and dad,get professional and get a proper team who know boxing and respect people!.

that would up his popularity and profile more.
