no one said Margarito deserved the fight for Pac or the fight for the junior middleweight title. Then again did Berto deserve to fight for the title Floyd vacated? How about Vasquez Jr.? A lot of "vacated" titles are fought with fighters who don't deserve it.

Did Freddy Hernandez "deserve" a shot at Berto's title. Did Shannon Briggs "deserve" his last title shot? How about Chisora? I realize their are optional defenses but a lot of this is BS.

I would have rather seen him stick around at 135 instead of fighting DLH and Hatton. I would have rather seen him stick around at 147 or go down to 140 instead of fighting Margarito.

If he's after money, then that's fine, but he could have made better fights for the fans instead of chasing titles in different weight divisions.

he can't turn down delahoya fight. that'd just be ******.

ivan calderon would have taken a delahoya fight at 160.

hatton was money as well. that's why i don't blame floyd for fighting hatton and delahoya. it'd be ignorant not to.

i think the only thing you can really criticize him about is the 154 thing. 147 is more money than 140 and has bigger names.

the 154 thing was whatever. i think it was a fight that got a title slapped on it more than chasing a title fight though.

uncle bob wanted marg-pac. marg-pac made sense in dallas too.

they just slapped the 154 belt on it to help promote it. it's a paper belt. meaningless.

1. i brought up those other guys just as comparison.

i don't see the point in *****ing about 8-weight champ when some of the other multiple weight champs are bogus too.

2. yes the belt was bull**** and yes the catchweight is bull**** but i don't dwell on it too much because a lot of people's belts are bull**** and quite a few have done catchweights. hell victor ortiz is demanding a catchweight to fight berto. paul williams just got one too. funny thing is i think pwill and ortiz are bigger than serge and berto.

so you mean when floyd went up to 154 for an old part time fighter in de la hoya and then didn't defend it and went back to 147 that we shouldn't count that belt for floyd? I am trying to understand your logic. Also if floyd fights martinez at 156 and wins and moves back down and doesn't defend it we don't count that one either right?

I just wonder who he could have fought at 147 lbs after Clottey? JMM was tied up with his PPV rematch with Diaz, Berto just pulled out of a fight with Mosley and wouldn't go into the biggest fight of his life after having so much time off, Tim Bradley was on a collision course with Devon Alexander and was still somewhat unproven, etc. Margarito was a pit stop and that's about it. Hey, we could have got stuck with Pacquiao vs. Cotto II which would have been worse yet...

All of the posts here arguing over the number of titles are amusing. Why is it such a big deal to some of you, in this era of abc belts, including the lineal, ring, interim, diamond, youth, intercontinental and what have you. 8th title, it is what it is because of all these belts, legit or not, from a global org or from a piddling association, that's the sorry state of the sanctioning bodies now. Who knows, some wise guy will split up some more these divisions so it is easy to achieve and pad a boxer's championship record. Who cares!

Manny stole his " 8th divisional title " by fighting in a division that he did not belong in, against a slow, plodding, faded, shop-worn, mediocre, WELTERWEIGHT, BUM..... who happens to be even less deserving of a title shot than Manny was
