Comments Thread For: Arum: Pacquiao-Bradley Possible, If Tim Goes Top Rank

I distinctly recall Bob Arum saying that Manny Pacquiaos next fight would not be against a Top Rank fighter. Well, he was partially right... he just makes them leave their current promoter first, and then come to Top Rank. He should have said 'Mannys next fight will not be against a former Top Rank fighter. He will be a new Top Rank fighter.' Now he's made it crystal clear that anyone who wants the slightest possible chance to fight Manny Pacquiao will have to sign with TR - and that's BUSINESS BLACKMAIL. If JMM would have left GBP, I think all of a sudden Arum would say that Juan has incredible drawing power, especially on Mexican Independence Day, and the fight would have been deemed "The next BIG thing". SMDH...
IMO, Bradley is in between a rock and a hard place. The only way he can even be considered as a possible opponent for Pacquiao is to sign with Top Rank, but Bob has already stated that he will have to work his way up first. So in the meantime, if he's signed with Top Rank, he loses out on any chance of fighting Floyd Mayweather Jr. (if he's promoted by GBP) or Khan (who is promoted by GBP). Meanwhile, Bob will continue to dangle the carrot over Bradleys head for a possible fight with Manny 'somewhere down the line'. He could go through all of Arums hoops and still not be guaranteed a fight with Pacquiao. Besides, Manny could decide to retire after Shane Mosely for all anyone knows for certain. There's always the chance that Pacquiao could quit the game before Bob Arum ever deems Bradley "ready".
I think Bradley would be safest to stay with Gary Shaw. He seems to be the lesser of the 3 evils. The money will come soon enough because of his status as #1 in the division. He definately ought to see if FMJ has any interest in fighting him before he shackles himself to Top Rank. And if he signs with TR before a possible showdown with Khan in July (Bradleys contract with Shaw is up in May), we could see any possibility of that fight ever happening go down the ****ter. And STILL, Tim Bradley could never end up facing Manny Pacquiao.
Don't do it Tim.

Arum is holding the sport ransom.
Anyone who supports Top Rank are definitely no fan of this sport.
I wish you would post more often Lorily, an excellent read
