My posts is in response to overall skill as a fighter but it does become confusing based on the close proximity to the mentioned fighters weight classes.
That said I don't see even a 154 cotto having a chance if a prime Whitaker stepped a few pounds to meet him at 154. But I don't think we have to measure it this way. Not to long ago cotto was a really good 147 pounder. If we took the Cotto who defeated Zab Judah and matched him with the Pernell who defeated Buddy Mcgirt or against the Hearns or Leonard that faced of at the same weight....I think this would be a fair compromise as far as fighter comparison goes and I believe he would be embarrassed by all of them. The Floyd Mayweather that faced Gatti or Marquez at 147 would fair better but I believe would lose as well to all mentioned.
Once again why the hell are u talking prime fighters?

    • You guys are getting a little carried away here. Floyd Dominated Cotto and almost had him KO'd in the 11th. What were you guys watching?

If you think you are going to have a fight when neither guy holds then you are the fool. The problem is when its massive, given a guy a clear advantage, or disrupting the flow. This didnt. For you to compare this to Abril is foolish.

You talking about Floyd being masterclass? No one even likes Floyd. He's got by far more critics than anyone in this era yet no on complained about his holding, fans or writers. Just you. That should tell you something
rewatch the fight. You're too much of a fanboy and you're still overly excited that you actually seen a decent fight. I never said the fight was bad. I was'nt even complaining. I just noticed Floyd had to hold quite abit.

It does get a little tiring when people compare floyd at 35 to SRL and Hearns in their prime. But when your goal is to knock someone from what you percieve is their high horse, you get irrational crap like this.

          • Was not surprised in the slightest on how this fight turned out.

I had Mayweather winning 116-112, but they were a lot of close round with Floyd just edged.

Miguel pressured him, time the jab well and defended well making Floyd just hit gloves or swing for thin air at times.

Floyd also showed his condition is not as high as Pacquiao's because he struggled with the pace of the fight and had to take a few breathers. So lets stop this Mayweather is the best conditioned fighter in boxing.

Don't watch the boxnation vid, it is a disgrace, 12 rounds of riding Floyd hard.

Yes you can, or have you forgot what Floyd has said about catchweights?

                Guess he was lying again.

Don't get me wrong and I should have phrased it better. Money May is an all-time great but as a fight fan and having so much boxing history as well as great fighters who have graced the sport I think it is only natural to make comparisons. With many people gravitating to the school of thought that May is the greatest or in the top echelon of the greats (top 10)...I felt compelled to ask the question.

When you make comparisons it should be fair. Not prime against past prime.

Dude you compared ww in their prime with a 35 year old floyd. The comparison is skewed. Floyd beat Miguel's ass and sent him to the hospital for observation. If you think anothe ATG would have done better at 35, then you are just looking to criticize floyd for no apparent reason.
