Man if you can afford to do it, being an indepndent is the way to go.
If Cotto does bring home career payday then fighters will rethink how promoters do business and not sign the extensions forced upon them similar to Gamboa and Chavez jr

            • Larry Merchant Set to Collide with Floyd Mayweather: Fan Reaction

WBC welterweight champion, Floyd Mayweather, bumped heads with HBO commentator Larry Merchant after his knockout out victory over Victor Ortiz, and the two might just end up colliding again when he faces Miguel Cotto on May 5. Cotto's WBA world super light-middleweight title will be on the line, when the two square up at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, NV.

Merchant still stands by his behavior during the infamous post-fight interview with Floyd, and it doesn't look like he'll be changing his interviewing style anything soon.

"He's had this problem with other media people," Merchant said during an interview with Lance Pugmire. "I'm not the only one in this club. Anybody who does what we do - ask questions and push for answers, who aren't part of his fan club or worship him … can be perceived as the enemy. For me, it's not personal and it's not a popularity contest. It's just doing what needs to be done to get the story. There are no hard questions if you have the answers. I don't think I'm any tougher on him than anyone else. Perhaps one issue is he presents himself as the villain before the fight, and then wants everyone to turn on a dime and adore him immediately after."

Even though Mayweather did over-react during his post-fight clash with Merchant, the 81 year old was a little unfair during the interview. Merchant conveniently forgot about Ortiz' blatant flying head butt, badgering Mayweather about the way he knocked Ortiz out. After the drama, he made an excuse for Ortiz' head butt, playing it off as a reflex action.

Merchant's decision to call Mayweather out was also unprofessional, telling the undefeated fighter, "If I was 50 years younger, I'd kick your [expletive]."

Merchant stands firmly behind his words, and he still thinks a younger version of himself would have a chance against Mayweather.

"If I snuck up behind him and he wasn't looking, yeah, I probably could've kicked his [rear]," Merchant added. "Otherwise, I have my doubts."

                  • Mayweather 32Mill guranteed plus 65% of every thing

Cotto 8Mill guranteed plus 35% of everything

If the fight sells atleast 1.4mill buys and with all the sponsorship and all, floyd will end with almost 45mill and Cotto 25Mill

                      Damn.

Pacquiao really needs to dump his puppetmaster and go on his own.

                      I disagree with "after taxes"
