I can really see Floyd tagging Cotto brutally as the fight goes on. Ortiz is probably even a bit quicker and explosive than Cotto is, and is a southpaw, and Mayweather was easily tagging him. Cotto fights differently, but he doesn't have as much head movement as Ortiz, or at least it seems that way.

And if Cotto starts backing up, which he does at points now, it's all over. There's no way in hell he's going to beat Floyd backing up, and than trying to explode with a combo, not going to happen.

Cotto is a good fighter, make no mistake about it, but I can't see him troubling Floyd unless he comes forward all night, cuts the ring once he has Floyd backing up, and just traps him on the ropes. If he stands in the middle of the ring with Floyd and tries to be a boxer/puncher, he'll get shooled. If he comes forward and gets Floyd backing up, but doesn't cut the ring or apply effective pressure, he'll get schooled and countered at will. And if he lets Floyd walk him down, he has no shot.

The more i hear from Diaz the more i like him. He hasn't done a whole lot as a pro trainer yet but between his amateur pedigree and scientific knowledge, all these drills he has Cotto doing ect and just listening to him, i think win or lose on May 5th this guy is gonna be a real sought after trainer with plenty of champions.

As for the fight, Mayweather has to be the pick. Not because Cotto is no use or past it but because Mayweather is the best fighter on the planet and being the favourite is part of that package - WHOEVER u fight. (at a fair weight of course)

Does that make this a foregone conclusion? Hell no! As boxing fans we should all know by now that EVERYONE is beatable on any given night and that upsets happen! Obviously Floyd has strengths, MANY of them - he is the best. But Cotto has required tools and the right style i believe to cause him problems and looks to be having the best camp of his career with Diaz at the helm. Cotto is coming off a HUGE win, u may laugh and say Margarito!? But beating Margarito will have done wonders for his confidence, he will finally have vanquished the ghosts of July 26th 2008 and will be a better fighter for it. Margarito also presented even at this stage a nightmare "style match up" for Cotto. Miguel at full confidence defending his title at his weight class will be a handful for anyone. Floyd is in for a fight and Cotto has a fair chance here even if he is rightfully the underdog.
