I don't think any JMM fan thinks this fight is anything more than a joke. The reason JMM is fighting Erik Morales is the same as to why Pacquiao is fighting Mosley. Money money money. There isn't anyone at 135 that would produce the money that Morales will bring to the table.

Marquez is not going to fight Soto because Marquez' clear intentions are to move up to 140 and fight for a title there. This joke fight's only benefit is that it will give us an idea how Marquez functions at 140.

Think of this fights as a stay busy fight since JMM has been fighting top dogs. But I believe this fight is PPV which is bs. Who will pay to see an old shot fighter take on one of the best boxers today? But then again there are a lot of people excited about and willing to pay for Cotto-Mayorga and Pacquiao-Mosley.

by whom? stop making stuff up anyone with any knowledge of the sport knew that fight was too late in the making as well

and yes let's look at JMM's last few opponents

Katsidis- no shame in this fight at all. Kats always brings action, beat Mitchell for the interim belt, and the fight was a FOTY type fight.

Juan Diaz- a rematch of 2009's FOTY that saw both guys give and get. While the fight didn't exactl explode with action like the first one that was more Diaz's doing than JMM's Diaz chose to play it safe

Mayweather- um about as elite as it gets

Diaz- considered by some the best lightweight in the world when they fought and this scrap wound up being FOTY.

now do we really want to compare opponents?

I think from a promoter's perspective it's nice to make fights where the two most deserving guys fight but sometimes you need fights like this where the match up is intriguing if for name only

we all know as faded as El Terible might be he is all balls and will bring it

I'm pretty sure they're going to persue a fight against Bradley regardless of Amir Khan being from golden boy.

why doesnt jmm fight soto if he doesnt wanna leave 135??

morales hasnt even done anything to earn this fight
Morales rematched Pacquiao months later after Morales beat him in the 1st fight. How does one come to the conclusion that he was shot in their 2nd fight?
