Comments Thread For: Sergio Martinez's Trainer: Berto Will Win, Ortiz is Done

Middleweight king and 2010 "Fighter of The Year," Sergio Martinez, is handled by experienced trainer Gabriel Sarmiento. He recently gave his thoughts on the proposed welterweight clash between undefeated WBC champion Andre Berto and southpaw junior welterweight (140 pounds) contender Victor Ortiz.

Sadly, Ortiz has become a huge disappointment like Fernando Vargas. I had high hopes for both fighters at one time. Ortiz might as well fight Berto and go for broke.

don't know about being done, but Ortiz obviously looked less that stellar in his last fight.

Ortiz hits harder than Collazo. I dont think he's done.

Is this fight still at a catchweight? If Ortiz looked like this at 140, he can definitely make 147. I still think Berto beats him.

          edit: excuse me, 141

His trainer was miss quoted once again(what a surprise), Gabriel didn't say "he needs to find a job"
"necesita trabajar por que va de bajada"

meaning "he needs to get to work because he looks like he's going downhill"

fix that ****, what you guys posted went from good advise, to being offensive. Unprofessional and uncool.

ortiz has all the skills to be great but his heart isn't there. robert garcia said he doesn't like getting hit and look what happened with maidana.

ortiz got as far as he did on talent but he doesn't have the heart to be great

Great point, this interview was by Elie Seckbach and frankly the guys who do his translations are poor.

Tienes razón hombre, Sarmiento no dijo que necesita otro trabajo.
