Very simple its a payday and just a stay busy fight so that he wont be coming off a long layoff. No fight with a Hasim Rahman type of fighter will prepare him for the beating he is going to recieve at the hands of Wlad and to even risk losing that payday and opportunity just doesnt make sense. Adamek even after getting destroyed by Wlad will have his Polish fans in Newark and will be able to sell fights with the guys that the other poster mentioned after this big fight.Comment

I think he is taking the opportunity that was given to him to be a major player at hw and to make a nice payday. Personally i think he is going to get destroyed and his team knows there is a very good chance that will happen. Adamek is not a proven hw but with the lack of talent in the division sadly he one of the few decent opponents left for the Klits.Comment

Of course Adamek himself is going to the fight to win. What kind of ***** would Adamek be to turn down this type of opportunity and challenge?Comment

In any case, several others have mentioned other fighters who would be absolutely zero risk opponents, and yet are far better than McBride, such as Whitaker.
The point about McBride is that he's so bad that he's not a tune-up at all, he's just a punch bag. As several people have pointed out, Adamek would get more benefit from an ordinary sparring session than he'll get from beating up McBride.Last edited by Dave Rado; 01-31-2011, 06:58 PM.Comment

I don't see any evidence that he doesn't. His management may realise that he is highly unlikely to win (which would just make them realists), but I imagine Adamek himself probably thinks he can win.Comment
