This is a very simple matchup. Very easy to analyze IMO.

And it all starts with Gamboa's discipline and composure.

He has the skills to outbox , and pick his spots against Juanma. If he can stay calm , he can take it. But at the same time. He does get more tired than Lopez. In the middle rounds he takes his foot off the gas. And the late rounds , he tries to come back strong , (and he does) but kind of tired and sluggish while at it.

Lopez can take bombs. And not be dropped. While gamboa is kd very easily I would say. Even tho hes not really rocked , and he still has his legs under him. The punches that have knocked him down , do not have half the mustard Juanma possesses.

    Gamboa / Lopez
    Speed - 10.................8.5
Power - 9..................10 His power has a lot to do with how much his speed decreases throughout the fight
    Box skills - 10.................8
    Conditioning - 8.5................8.5
    Chin - 7..................8
    Footwork 10..................9

Overall boxing abilities , Gamboa takes it. I think Lopez has more heart.
Gamboa has the kind of speed that catches you , off balance , without you seeing it. And can knock u out cold. Lopez has 1 punch ko power. But I thin it will take more than 1 to knock HURT Gamboa. He can possibly Knock him down. But he wont be badly hurt.

Its a toss up for me. Both guys are great. And this fight will happen.

Gotta go with my man Lopez.

This is a bull**** half-ass article, this is the real one

Those who thought the featherweight champion of the World Boxing Organization (WBO), Juan Manuel "Juanma" Lopez, was resting while waiting to know who is his rival for his next title defense April 16, they are wrong.

"We're doing weights and running on the treadmill. I'm doing the hard work now, and then begin to get down in February to be near the weight in april. Right now I should be about 22 pounds over weight, "Lopez said yesterday Primera Hora.

Indeed, Lopez was showing impressive musculature, strong evidence of physical work he performs.

The WBO featherweight king said that he is concentrating on his preparation for his first match of this year at the Roberto Clemente Coliseum, and on Monday back to the gym full time.

"Many times we have had the uncertainty of who is the opponent. But we are calm and a matter of sliding in time, "Lopez said.

"We now have a date in April and has spoken and Orlando Salido (Ricardo) Cordova, but personally I would like it to Salido, he faced (Yuriorkis) Gamboa and made a good fight."

Peter Rivera, Lopez promoter, said he hoped soon to have an official announcement on the rival of Lopez.

By the way, the champion, did not rule out a second fight against Rafael Marquez, but had several words for Gamboa, featherweight champion of the World Boxing Association and International Boxing Federation, and who wants to face in the near future.

"The day that we face, I have no doubt that in the first four rounds he will swipe then. These early rounds are going to be tough, he is a good fighter in the middle distance and must be respected, but as soon (Gamboa) passes 5 rounds, many people say that I get tired, but he tires more. He can not trade punches on the inside nor he knows how to fight in a phone booth, "he said.

"I heard that Gamboa said that I would not dare to fight him, and I said I was going to knock him out. But what I said was that I beat Marquez now and in June I beat Gamboa. But, if I pulled away and said I was going to knock him out its because it may be the truth, "said Lopez with a mischievous smile.

Let's see how Juanma handles Salido first because he says that he is better conditioned than Gamboa based on the Salido fight, but what people don't realize is that Salido is not the most skilled fighter in the world but he conditions himself so well that he is a problem for any fighter so before Juanma says that he is more conditioned than Gamboa let's see him handle Salido without tiring, and if Juanma does tire against Salido he will look really bad.

Maybe in the ring with someone of equal talent it would be different, but maybe not. If Gamboa stays focused for 12 rounds, I think he beats Lopez. He lapses at all, Lopez is easily good enough to make him pay, and pay badly.

lmao indeed. Gamboa gets tire after 4 roundss and doesnt have much power after that. I guess Juanma is doing some tv work on Gamboa.

                      Outstanding breakdown, man. Green K

It stinks to have to wait so long for these two young fighters to meet. But I have to hand it to the promoters, the build-up is working. You can just see it on these boards. Every time Gamboa and Lopez fight another boxer, it just adds to the debate of who can take whom. It forces us, the fans, to consider these guys more closely every time. The anticipation will reach critical mass, soon. By then, we'll all be digging into our pockets for the PPV. Like it or not, these guys know what they're doing.
