American junior middleweight/middleweight contender Ishe Smith has recently contacted BoxingScene.com to state his desire to fight unbeaten WBO 160-pound champion Dmitry Pirog. The Russian champion's voluntary defense of the belt, which he earned with an eye-catching kayo of prospect Daniel Jacobs, will take place in Ekaterinburg, Russia, on March 26.

Pirog is a "G"....I like his attitude and LOVE his fighting style....I like Shay as well....hope it gets inked

It shouldnt be too bad, and its not really Pirog's fault that most other guys dont want to fight him.

Fight may be a lil interesting...Ishe's real crafty and can make you look terrible...

Only saw Pirog's fight with Jacobs so I would wonder how he looks in there...

I don't think this qualifies as a gimmie-defense at all. Ishe is a very tough customer. His "body punching" is virtually all low blows, and half of his "head punching" is hitting behind the head. Add to that a great chin, and you got a very tough first defense for a "young" and still untested champion.

Perhaps, nobody just wants to fight Pirog after watching him dismantle the overhyped Jacobs. It could also explain why he is having a hard time looking for opponents.

Maybe. Hard to tell. We all assume nobody wants to fight him because of his big KO of Jacobs, but not sure it's based on fact. Haven't heard anyone back down, and a lot of managers/promoters claim their fighter is being avoided. Pirog may be, just not sure. Smith is OK as a fill in and he should give Pirog some rounds
