Many people are still stuck in 2004 and think Wlad is the same fighter he was then, so in their minds if a fighter gets dominated it's because he's a bum, not because Wlad is good. They made their minds up then that Wlad is an average fighter, it's easier for them to discredit them and calling their opponents bums instead of acknowledging Wlad has become a great fighter, people hate being proven wrong.
