If this was a Floyd fight and CBS deal,

the naysayers would be creaming themselves talking about Mayweather is a genius at promotion. They'd be bathing in their own man love saying Mayweather is a must see attraction that even the major networks can't deny.

    But,

    since its Manny,

    they cry about it.

You might be right and we will ever know as we are not involved, but then again this might be a move from Showtime to seriously compete and take over HBO.

What makes me think like this is that Cotto-Mayorga was originally going to Top Rank PPV and Showtime stepped in knowing that HBO has Sergio Martinez fighting for "free" that night. In other words this is not only about Arum. Only time will tell!!

This is probably the biggest and greatest thing to happen to boxing since Ali - Foreman, Rumble in the Jungle. HBO doesn't have ANY WHERE NEAR the $$$ as CBS so the thought of them not having the resources to do a 24/7 is absurd.

Only people with no vision or ability to see the big picture don't see how big this is.

This is genius by Arum and Manny and you guys are gullible to think this will somehow catapult boxing into mainstream television. The only two boxers that can pull this off are Manny and Mayweather and thats it. It has nothing to do with hating because if Mayweather did something like this then it would be pathetic also. Mayweather has been fighting nobodies and passing it off as something great for years and now Manny is doing the same damn thing. What happens when Manny retires in a year or two because no one else has the star power to have something on a national network? I'm all about making boxing better but this is about trying to sell a horrible fight as something great.

All in all, though we as Boxing fans think Pacquiao vs Mosley is unnecessary, you have to account for the casual fans who may know Mosley is older, but will watch because Pacquiao is involved. Just as HBO made people believe Marquez had this big shot to beat Mayweather is almost exactly how they'll sell this fight, but now on a broader platform. Take it for what it is, National exposure for the sport. Is Mosley the best opponent they could've gotten for Manny? No. Is he the absolute worst? Definitely not. Most of the country who has any pulse on the sport knows Mayweather is the obvious fight, but considering Pacquiao is continuing to fight the majority of casual fans and really, a good amount of Boxing fans will be watching as well because of the styles both guys are going to bring.

Again, I'm not in full support of this fight, but I think we gotta look at whatever positives we can.

Mosley's job is to show up and get his ass kicked as thoroughly and violently as his corner and the ref/ringside doctor will allow. It's about Manny and showcasing his talents, just like it was against Clottey and Margs last year.

Not like it will be Shane chasing Manny ala Mora, we all know Pac will come to fight so as long as Shane doesn't pull a Clottey it's all good.

Those fans most likely saw Mosley get trounced by Floyd though, and if people consider Floyd and Manny on a level it will be tough to convince people that the fight will go any different.

A=B thus greater than C doesn't work but if you don't know the sport well enough that is a logical enough way to look at it.

If you like this fight and are excited about it then you're and idiot and a fake boxing fan. You can't find one legitimate boxing columnist or analyst that likes this fight.

You are right, it is not about arum... this is all about business, competition, $$$$. Showtime made an offer that arum can't resist. They want to give HBO a stiff competition and I think they can. I see this as good for boxing.
