I agree with that in the bold. But, also the only guys that Oscar KO'd at 147 were not as good as Cotto in any way.

Yep, I can see why you'd say it but Oscar got really damn close to knocking Ike and Camacho out and no one else has been that close to it. Cotto has the heart to withstand it I think but I can definitely see him getting stopped by an Oscar flurry late in the fight after getting put down. You know? Those flurries that Oscar was famous for back then?

Cotto can be hurt too easily for him to get out of that type of situation with someone like a prime Oscar who was truly a great finisher, no matter how much everyone seems to dislike him now.

He put a beating a on Camacho like no one has....even Rosario and Tito. Cotto would take it for a while but then start to wear down and by the ninth, tenth would be in full backup mode. He'd take a brutal left hook as Oscar starts trying to go for it, get dropped, and then stopped with the ref jumping in after a flurry. That's how I see it anyway.

I think Gatti was about as hard to stop, at that point anyway, as Cotto is. There are just certain types of fighter that could stop a guy like Cotto and Oscar was one of them imo.

True, but most of them were hard guys and difficult to stop. Harder than Cotto. Cotto is a great fighter, but he's not hard to hurt and for a finisher, he's not super hard to stop. He just takes too much punishment you know?

He's better than those guys were, but not by that much and wasn't as hard to hurt as some of them.

At the least, guys like Coley, Carr, Chavez, Gatti were all tough as nails and Oscar stopped them when few else could.

Carr was only stopped by Oscar, Tito and Pineda. All major finishers. It goes without saying that while Chzvez wasn't what he was, he was still going to be very hard to stop. Cotto is better than them and would most likely beat them, but it doesn't mean he wasn't easier to stop or hurt.

I don't know. Maybe he wouldn't. I just see Oscar as a terrible match up for Cotto.
