              Owen Moran was the only one who KO'ed Battling Nelson. And the count itself was controversial as Bat was up at 10. He might have been nearly out on his feet by todays standards, but probably not by the standards of yesteryear.

                I think Nelson was more exhausted than anything else. It's best that he was counted out as Moran was ferocious and Nelson would have taken more unnecessary punishment.

                  I dont know if he was exhausted. In fact I doubt that as durability was his trademark and he was a marathonrunner. No he was genuinely hurt. He suffered one vicious KD before the KO.

                  Furthermore Nelson was past prime having lost his title in the mother of all brutal fights against Ad Wolgast.

                    I would agree with most of what you are saying but in the 11th round against a ferocious monster like Moran I could only imagine how exhausted he must have been at that point in the fight. You're right though, he was genuinely hurt, without question...
