To a certain extent this is true, his ability to adapt in the ring to his opponents style almost comes natural to him.

With Manny it's different, Ask yourself where would Manny be today with Freddie? I can't decide.

If anything it is the other way round.

Floyd has been around boxing since he was born, it is much more of a case of nurture rather than nature. Floyd game is very much learned.

Manny on the other started boxing in his teens and never had the greatest of trainer but relied on his natural talent of speed, power and tenacity. Things you can't teach.

Floyd's gift is his boxing intelligence.

      Nothing physical.

If you told Floyd and Manny that they would fight in three months, but neither of them can have any help in planning, developing a gameplan, or in training. They can merely have a couple of sparring partners each.

Who would you trust more on fight night?

        .
        Disagree.

Nearly every guy on top can show you photos of himself at 7 years old with boxing gloves on.

Pavlik, Judah, Oscar, Shane, Roy, etc, etc,

Why don't they have boxing intelligence?

It is not enough to be around it. Or have it taught to you. You have to possess the innate cool and composure and mental acuity to quickly process the information. And to act upon the information.

        That is a gift.

        Like a great point guard.

Mayweather was in the gym as soon has he could walk, his father his uncles all boxer, it was something learned. His style is his fathers style, learned.

Pacquiao has his own style. Roach has done a lot to polish up that style and add new things.

But without Pacquiao natural talent there is not lot Roach could do.

You are not born with innate intelligence of boxing, I think would be obvious to most.

So was Marvis Frazier, Ken Norton Jr. and Cory Spinks so why werent they as successful with boxing? They are missing something that you cant teach.

Of course you can't be an ATG without supreme talent. No one with a brain would dispute that. The question we're debating isn't about black and white, it's about shades of grey. Stop over-simplifying.

There is a difference between "knowledge" and "intelligence".

Do you believe that Roy Jones has as much boxing knowledge as Floyd Mayweather? Yeah, probably.

Does he have the boxing intelligence Floyd has? No, not even close.

The intelligence is the ability to quickly gather that knowledge, process it , and apply it.

I think that would be obvious to most.
