mayweather is very fortunate to have been in a boxing family. he really just needed some balls and less of that 'thug' image being afraid of a ped-up man.

pac is very fortunate to have found roach. you could imagine him being a small margarito who likes to get bruised up until you hit him in the body

While Freddy has help Manny out tremendous, Manny would have still been and elite fighter.

People act like Manny was some bum prior to Roach when that couldn't be any further from the truth. I use to follow all the weight classes back in the day (I was a huge Tapia and Hamed fan) and all the magazine would always praise Manny as being one of the very best in the lower division. Now he may have became more popular after his wins over the Mexican trio.....but the talent was always there.

To a certain extent this is true, his ability to adapt in the ring to his opponents style almost comes natural to him.

The ability to really learn from a great trainer is a gift. Few have it. That's why none of Roach's other boxers have improved nearly as much under him as Pacquiao and Khan have - even though Roach has trained more Hall of Famers than anyone since Eddie Futch. But his other fighters didn't have that gift of being able to learn from him everything he had to teach. That ability to really learn from someone is a real talent.

And even the greatest trainer in the world can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. However great your trainer is, you have to have a great talent to start with in order to become a great fighter.

Just because some fighters can become great fighters without having a great trainer doesn't mean they have more talent than those who do need a great trainer to bring the best out of them - it just means they have different talents.

And in any case, what Pacquiao achieved prior to meeting Roach was truly extraordinary given his background. A half-starved street urchin with no training facilities that any American kid would look at without turning their nose up had become a two division world champion at the age of 23.

Boxing obviously comes more natural to him, He like Manny was thought,
No one is born with a defence like Floyds its not possible it's something he mastered. What I'm getting at is, Mayweathers boxing brain could be looked on as far more superior to Mannys.

The man could most likely go 12 rounds with nobody in his corner, I can't see how Manny would adapt without Roach, I don't know if Manny would be where he is now with out Roach either.

Roach is his teacher and helped him improve. Mayweather was taught from early age, so he has had a great teacher for a much longer period of time.

They're both products of their own environment. Do their personalities come into play? Sure. One guy is more hyper and willing to throw more punches, and the other is more relaxed and prefers to lay back and see things coming first, before he does anything.

But the phrase that someone is born to do anything is just some clever wordplay that doesn't mean anything. Nobody was born to do anything, unless you and Mayweather both agree that God is on his side and that's why he soo special and makes all the money, while others starve.

Floyd was'nt born with it. He was born into a boxing family and he dedicated himself full time. Pacquiao did'nt have the luck of growing up in a boxing family. Really you can't compare in this way it just makes no sense.

Manny was a great boxer before Roach, it seems you dont know what you are talking about to me.

Floyd was born into a boxing family and taught boxing since he was like 3 yo.

So if you do something nearly everyday since you were 3 then Im pretty sure it should come naturally or if not then you are just bad at it.

If Floyd was born into a normal everyday family I dont think he would be boxing or if was born into a family like manny had, he might not even be alive.

On the other hand Manny came from nothing and was a world class boxer without world class training, so does that make him more naturally gifted? I dont know.

Imagine if manny was born into a boxing family, was trained since he was 3 yo and actually had a amature boxing career. He would probably a more complete fighter then he is now.

They both have excellent attributes for boxing and combined with their work ethics makes them great boxers.

He looked way more crisp by the time he moved up to challenge at 140. I say he needed Freddie's help to move up in weight or his career would have been real short. He was born with fearlessness that can be his best friend or worst enemy. Also hand speed that cant be taught. I mean it can be worked on but its rear that a fighters hands get much faster over a few years.

He also has the ability to adjust and make any style fighter fight his fight. Most of his rounds in different fights look like instant replays. You cant teach a man to make Zab Judah look like Baldomir. He compounds that by being in better shape than all previous opponents. The biggest argument for him having more natural talent is the fact that he is trained by Roger and Floyd Sr. but fights nothing like them. And neither of them had the intangibles he has. A lot of people could practice his style for their whole life and never equal the success.
